Honor Flow Productions - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
Honor Flow Productions
“Live Loud… Dream Fearless”: Who and What is Honor Flow Productions?
Founded and based out of Los Angeles, California, Honor Flow Productions is a collective of musicians dedicated to creating and presenting an “authentic human experience” through music. Established in September 2003 by Charles V. Nunley IV, Honor Flow Productions (H.F.P.) over the course of its eight year existence has expanded into multiple fields of media such as a Mobile DJ Services, radio/editorial programming, the curating of complete live music experiences, and the independent release of music projects. Between 2009 and 2010, because of the organic evolution and success of H.F.P. from a “traditional” Hip-Hop live set up to a full band, the company shifted its focus to revamping Honor Flow Productions as a versatile live collective that prides itself in bridging and at times, breaking the traditional rules and boundaries of contemporary music. A grassroots following gradually started to build in the currently blossoming renaissance of the Los Angeles music scene due to their “out-of-body” sonic experience given during their live performances; which incorporates a variety of music genres as a diverse reflection of the each member’s influences.
It is these eclectic combustions of sounds that not only led H.F.P to gracing, and even headlining the stages of historic Los Angeles venues such as The Roxy, The Key Club, and The Whisky A Go-Go (alongside landmark Hip-Hop artists such as KRS-One and Pete Rock), but became the focal point of the band’s debut album entitled V.I.S.I.O.N.S. (Various Inspired Stories Insightful On Night and Sunlight) released August 4th, 2011. As written in the album’s liner notes by vocalist/producer DJ Chuck “thE oLd SouL,” which appears on CD label of the LP’s physical copies, what started as rough sketches in back of a high school composition notebook by him and vocalist Key-Real “The Poet,” became a five year coming of age journey documented on record for not only the two high school classmates, but also their fellow band mates, as the band formalized throughout their college years.
From the stepping out on your own into the spotlight (“Center Stage”), to the release of the pressures of life through music (“S.S.C. (System Sound Check)”), to ambitious futures (the album’s lead single, “Cadillac Dreams”), to never forgetting where you came from (“Hold You Down” & “2 LA”), to having the courage to peruse your passion (“Make A Run For It”), V.I.S.I.O.N.S. is as grand in sound, as it is in thought. It encourages listeners to a carpe diem-like motto of “Live loud… Dream Fearless,” which means to live everyday as if there is no tomorrow, and to dream without restraint or hesitation; because through your actions and ideas, one lives on forever. These 10 pieces of musical testimony are the pursuits and epiphanies of Honor Flow Productions; bringing forth to ask yourself, “What Are Your V.I.S.I.O.N.S?”

Hugh Augustine The MC - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Hugh Augustine The MC
Los Angeles native Hugh Augustine, was born in South Central in 1991, the youngest of four sons. Hugh’s mother drove him 4 hours a day to and from school, to give him an opportunity to get away from the gang infested neighborhood he lived in. His father worked in the music business as a tour manager which introduced Hugh to the industry at a young age. When Hugh was 9 his parents divorced, which influenced him to write his first song.

Hugh began recording songs at the age of 12 in a home studio he built with a school friend. Having recorded over 25 songs before high school, Hugh became known around the community as “The MC.” He went on to become the captain of his high school football team until he decided to hang up his jersey to pursue music full time. Hugh released an EP as a junior, which was funded with street money by his cousin whom was only a year older than him. Determined to pay him back, Hugh went into the streets to sell his EP. In only two months Hugh was able to accumulate the couple thousand needed to pay his cousin back. Based on the success of the EP, Hugh performed at universities such as Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara, as well as Los Angeles venues The Knitting Factory, The Troubadour, and Musicians Institute. When Hugh graduated from high school he moved to New Orleans to further his academic career.

While in New Orleans he recorded and released an EP with another Los Angeles MC/Producer. A buzz formed around the EP giving the young upcoming artist the opportunity to sell out Cafe Prytania. The success of his first out of town show allowed him to perform at night club Republic, a New Orleans hot spot. The day after Hugh performed at Republic, he was forced to move back to Los Angeles due to financial complications. As he arrived back home he had a decision to make; go to community college or break into the music scene. Hugh released “Rubber Souls: The Dissertation” , a project recorded in his dorm room during the last two weeks he remained in New Orleans . Released independently with no host, “R.S:T.D” has been downloaded over four thousand times. He will also be releasing his first studio album "Hurry Up And Wait" soon. Hugh has gone on to performed on the world famous Sunset Strip, sharing the stage with hip-hop legend KRS-One at The Roxy, as well as opening for Pete Rock at the Key Club. The young ambitious artist is currently working on mastering his craft and musical abilities in order to leave a long lasting impression on the world.
Steve Liriks - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Steve Liriks
Enter Steve Liriks, a talented, crafty, and gifted individual . Steve Liriks is a California artist that was born into a musical family. His Dad, Herbert McMullen, was a music major at Kent State. Herbert McMullen was always involved in music throughout his career as a teacher and when his kids (Andrew "Andy Mackk" McMullen and Matthew "Steve Liriks" McMullen) were born he devoted his time to get them interested in music. Steve's brother, known as Andy Mackk, was influenced by his cousin and inherited the trade of rapping from him. This caused a chain reaction within the family as Steve Liriks also took upon the same trade. Steve would then begin rapping at the age of five with his older brother and cousins. When he became seven, he began to write his own rhymes and play the piano. Treating music as a hobby, his first true passion was to play Basketball and go to the NBA. At the age of fifteen, however, he realized his passion for Basketball had died out in exchange for Music. During this transition, Matthew McMullen would then create a persona named Steve Liriks. Matthew stated,
I came up with the name "Steve Liriks" in this way. The "Steve" in the name came from my middle name "Stephen" where Steve is short for Stephen. Also, my musical idol was Stevie Wonder, so you know i had to associate something with him. I was then watching Jason's Lyric at the same time as I was thinking about it and just thought, Hey that title is tight. So, I just used the short version of my middle name Stephen, thought about Jason's Lyric, and then replaced Jason with Steve. That's how I came up with Steve Liriks. Of course I had to change the letters around and such to make it sound decent, but hey a beautiful name came out from it. (laughs)
After taking on the name Steve Liriks, he began working on his first album, "Carpe Diem," in 2006.
Steve Liriks studied artists from Nas to Pink Floyd to take listeners on a musical journey for “Carpe Diem”. He produced and wrote the entire Carpe Diem album, as well demonstrated his talents of singing and rapping. All the way from the intro of the album to the last track, Steve Liriks had made a statement with the album that showed a presence of a new artist on the horizon. Steve Liriks remains eager to take on the world with his music sharing it with those who find interest.
