R-Mean - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
R-Mean
Los Angeles-born, Armenian-American rapper R-Mean is bringing word of his mountainous ancestral republic to one of our biggest cultural expressions of all: hip-hop. As the first rapper of Armenian descent to achieve his level of international and national acclaim. His multi-cultural background and extensive fan base has afforded him multiple opportunities to perform around the world including Canada, Europe, and all over the United States. R-Mean’s lyrical prowess and melodious flow has amounted to national recognition, famous friends and critical acclaim. With a flow reminiscent of Nas and Eminem, influenced by his diverse, upbringing, always staying true to organic Hip-Hop, R-Mean breaks international barriers through his music like no other.

Born in Los Angeles, he was raised in Amsterdam by a single mother, after losing his father who succumbed to an ill-timed death due to medical malpractice. Growing up he faced the dark challenges and oppression posed to minorities. Using college as a means of moving to California to pursue his musical dreams, he graduated from UCLA and went on to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loma Linda University. During his schooling he continued recording and developing himself as artist but chose to stop working as a pharmacist a couple years ago to instead heal people through music instead of medication.

R-Mean’s lyrical prowess and melodious flow has amounted to national recognition, famous friends and critical acclaim. Armed with a strong and loyal fan base that never fails to show how much his music touches people's lives. He is honored to have received fan mail with heart felt testimonials and pictures of people bearing tattoos of his name and lyrics. He has been featured as the opening act for Nas, Bone Thugs N’ Harmony and most recently Method Man and headlined sold out concerts at notable venues like the House of Blues Sunset, Troubadour and the Mayan LA. His most notable live radio and TV accomplishments include appearances on MTV’s “Rapfix” with Mobb Deep (2012) and "Rapfix" year end cypher (2014), freestyling on the world famous “Wake Up Show” on Power 106 and Shade 45, and numerous appearances on “Sway in the Morning” on Shade45. His music video "Lost Angels" featuring multi-platinum artist The Game debut on MTV Jams in Nov 2013 and his highly anticipated mix-tape "Far from Heaven" (iTunes) dropped in Nov 2013. His song Open Wounds dedicated to the Armenian Genocide lead to the foundation of Open Wounds 1915 organization to spread awareness through hip-hop and social media. The movement has reached to all corners of the world in just one year. In July 2015 R-Mean released his most ambitious album to date, 7 Deadly Sins, on Pentagon Records. The album was announced via a Kickstarter campaign which raised $54k in pre-orders. In October 2016 he released the “Nas & Em” tribute mixtape with Dj Base featured on HotNewHipHop.com.
