Unique in its musical arsenal is the inclusion of oud and percussion blended with more traditional rock elements such as guitar, bass and drums. This fascinating fusion, combined with dramatic and powerful live performances have garnered Viza significant success all over the world.

Recorded by Jared Gosselin (D12, Macy Gray) at Frank Zappa’s UMRK Studios, Viza’s fifth album, “Carnivalia” is the band’s most animated work – a journey through a symbolic theme park derived from satirical and dramatic influences. Inspired from Gogol Bordello’s multicultural rhapsodies and System of a Down’s notorious screams and riffs, Carnivalia embodies Viza’s groundbreaking songwriting and experimentation which has amazed audiences with a mesmerizing blend of instruments, various styles and continued evolution of Viza’s sound.

In September 2012, Viza will embark on its second tour with System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian for his “Harakiri” World Tour, a nearly 6 week endeavor featuring 19 performances all around the world. In 2010, Viza also supported Tankian’s "Imperfect Harmonies" Tour in Europe in the cities of Hamburg, Cologne, Paris, Zurich, Bologna, Athens and Yerevan. “Loving the new record; Carnivalia’s awesome. I love hearing the new influences and the fun loving spirit and musical wizardry. Overall a really great effort,” said Tankian. “Viza is one of the most unique and interesting bands I have ever encountered. Their live shows are energetic and fun,” he added. Tankian has worked extensively with the group, serving as Executive Producer of Viza’s previous album entitled “Made In Chernobyl”, and also sang as a guest vocalist on the album’s “Viktor” track.

Formerly known as Visa, the band released two EPs and two full length albums, along with a award winning music video. The band's De Facto, Eros and Made In Chernobyl albums incorporated music pervaded with sonorities from various influences and musical styles and blended elements of aggressive rock, dance and satirical social commentary.

Among the band’s extensive touring schedule, Viza has performed at one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious music events at Hungary’s Sziget Festival’s mainstage (alongside Korn, The Killers, Axwell, The Vaccines, The XX among several others) as part of a month long European tour in August 2012. Viza has also performed at Sweden’s Malmofestivalen, Norway's Kartfestivalen, Slovenia's Schengenfest and Trnfest and Greece’s Rockwave Festival (alongside The Prodigy, Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Marky Ramone’s Blitzkreig), and has toured Europe 6 times in the past 2 years alone.

Demonstrating a knack for reinventing old rock classics, Viza recently covered the Doors tune "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)" by adding its own strong seasonings and aggressive fusion style in a compelling reimagination of this classic rock ballad. The song is available for free download here and will be featured on Viza's upcoming tour with Serj Tankian.

Aside from a passion for music, touring and song writing, Viza’s extensive performances around the globe also serve as their voice for promoting social consciousness of human rights and community issues – as well as providing opportunities to fundraise for various charities, homeless shelters and orphanages. oud and percussion blended with more traditional rock elements such as guitar, bass and drums. Fresh off the return of this successful tour, Viza is preparing for a very exciting 2012 filled with more shows in Europe and North America.

Among the band’s extensive touring schedule, Viza has performed at Sweden’s Malmofestivalen and Greece’s Rockwave Festival (alongside Prodigy, Gogol Bordello, The Ramones), and has already been invited to perform at Norway’s Kartfestivalen and Hungary’s Sziget festival this upcoming summer, one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious music events, as part of a 3 week long

Palm Of Granite
The project has continuously evolved and progressed across many different skins and sounds, and since the beginning, the song has been the deciding factor of the most affluent outfit and arrangement.

For me, the most rewarding experience is playing with musicians who receive the emotions and thoughts I express through the inefficiency of language, and tanscend them into melodies and harmonies that grant salvation to all the feelings lost in translation – made material through words.

Simply playing along with the song does not cut it, rather, cutting deep into the song and planting new seeds to tangle with the existing roots to become one tree.
13 Obsessions - (Set time: 9:15 PM)
13 Obsessions
13 Obsessions is a kick your teeth in rock band right out of LA, CA. Fueled by nothing but hard guitar riffs, raw power and a devil may care attitude; they made it their personal mission to grow a new set of razor sharp teeth for the beast that is rock and roll

13 Obsessions was formed by Greg (lead guitar, vocals) & Noel (drums, Percussion). The two meet in high school and quickly put a band together to harness and focus their musical chemistry. Members of that band changed faster than a hooker could turn tricks behind a liquor store. Greg & Noel toughed out the bad times. Unfortunately the bad times got worse and Greg & Noel finally called it a day. After a 2 year break, Greg & Noel decided to get the dynamic duo back together and as if it was meant to be, new material was pouring out of Greg’s basement (their own version of a rock and roll batcave) as if the rock gods were appeased with their display of energy. After a few weeks Noel introduced Greg to David (rhythm guitar), a guitar player Noel had met during the break. Greg and David clicked instantly writing even more material. Now all they needed was a bassist. After an exhausting couple of months throwing names around and trying to find someone that fit, They did. Noel and David got back in contact with David (Bassist), a guy they met working with an old band. And that was that, every messenger for the spirit of rock and roll assembled. Some people get one or two, but these guys will give you...13 OBSESSIONS
The Nukes - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
The Nukes
all other teen rock bands are their affinity for musicianship - having studied their instruments since before becoming teenagers - and indifference about that commercial-friendly sound in favor of challenging the industry to try something new.

So far, this mindset has worked. The Nukes are the subject of a documentary that started filming in the summer of 2009. This documentary, which covers their auditions, recording sessions, and live performance, is currently being edited and due for completion in February 2010.

The Nukes played their first show earlier this January at the Troubadour to 200 paying guests. Not only were they integral to the night selling out, but they were asked back MARCH 6TH.
This is all very impressive considering that the current line-up has only been practicing together for 3 months. The guitar player and bass player have been with the project since its inception in the summer 2009.
