Unique in its musical arsenal is the inclusion of oud and percussion blended with more traditional rock elements such as guitar, bass and drums. This fascinating fusion, combined with dramatic and powerful live performances have garnered Viza significant success all over the world.

Recorded by Jared Gosselin (D12, Macy Gray) at Frank Zappa’s UMRK Studios, Viza’s fifth album, “Carnivalia” is the band’s most animated work – a journey through a symbolic theme park derived from satirical and dramatic influences. Inspired from Gogol Bordello’s multicultural rhapsodies and System of a Down’s notorious screams and riffs, Carnivalia embodies Viza’s groundbreaking songwriting and experimentation which has amazed audiences with a mesmerizing blend of instruments, various styles and continued evolution of Viza’s sound.

In September 2012, Viza will embark on its second tour with System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian for his “Harakiri” World Tour, a nearly 6 week endeavor featuring 19 performances all around the world. In 2010, Viza also supported Tankian’s "Imperfect Harmonies" Tour in Europe in the cities of Hamburg, Cologne, Paris, Zurich, Bologna, Athens and Yerevan. “Loving the new record; Carnivalia’s awesome. I love hearing the new influences and the fun loving spirit and musical wizardry. Overall a really great effort,” said Tankian. “Viza is one of the most unique and interesting bands I have ever encountered. Their live shows are energetic and fun,” he added. Tankian has worked extensively with the group, serving as Executive Producer of Viza’s previous album entitled “Made In Chernobyl”, and also sang as a guest vocalist on the album’s “Viktor” track.

Formerly known as Visa, the band released two EPs and two full length albums, along with a award winning music video. The band's De Facto, Eros and Made In Chernobyl albums incorporated music pervaded with sonorities from various influences and musical styles and blended elements of aggressive rock, dance and satirical social commentary.

Among the band’s extensive touring schedule, Viza has performed at one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious music events at Hungary’s Sziget Festival’s mainstage (alongside Korn, The Killers, Axwell, The Vaccines, The XX among several others) as part of a month long European tour in August 2012. Viza has also performed at Sweden’s Malmofestivalen, Norway's Kartfestivalen, Slovenia's Schengenfest and Trnfest and Greece’s Rockwave Festival (alongside The Prodigy, Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Marky Ramone’s Blitzkreig), and has toured Europe 6 times in the past 2 years alone.

Demonstrating a knack for reinventing old rock classics, Viza recently covered the Doors tune "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)" by adding its own strong seasonings and aggressive fusion style in a compelling reimagination of this classic rock ballad. The song is available for free download here and will be featured on Viza's upcoming tour with Serj Tankian.

Aside from a passion for music, touring and song writing, Viza’s extensive performances around the globe also serve as their voice for promoting social consciousness of human rights and community issues – as well as providing opportunities to fundraise for various charities, homeless shelters and orphanages. oud and percussion blended with more traditional rock elements such as guitar, bass and drums. The Dirty Diamond are currently hard at work on a new album, set to be titled "Brand New Vintage".
The Cause - (Set time: 9:45 PM)
The Cause
The Cause was originally born from the spirit and mind of one young adolescent’s awakening of consciousness of the world around him. That young man, Gerard Bozoghlian, was just a burgeoning musician when he was transplanted from Argentina to the United States, where he would not only develop his already sprouting musical chops, but also sink his roots into the very soil of what it meant to become an artist. Music from The Cause is idealistic in it’s approach and intention, encouraging the listener to unplug their mind and begin listening to their soul.

Gerard embarked on his adolescence in the cultural and social whirlwind of Los Angeles as a young son of Armenian heritage raised in Argentine culture until his early teens. It was the clashing of this amalgam of different social and political ideologies that was the catalyst that spawned Gerard to disbelieve the constructs and institutions of the cultural powers that be, and begin to look to music and art to find the universal truths that connect all human beings.
Bringing with him the musical education he received while in Buenos Aires, Gerard continued his studies in the States at the Los Angeles County High School For The Arts. During his years of musical study, Gerard’s appetite for new music took him outside of the classroom and into the local record store where he ingested as many tunes from musical giants new and old. These included legends such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Genesis and The Doors, to name a few. Listening to music he creates as The Cause, one can faintly hear elements of the aforementioned greats he considers as kindred spirits who strived to inspire new modes of thinking through progressive music and universal consciousness.

Through daily meditation and a pursuit of spiritual studies, Bozoghlian continues to enhance the message that traverses via the music of The Cause. With eyes set on inspiring listeners to find their own personal awakenings and truths, The Cause has only just set sail on this lifelong musical journey.

In the coming months, The Cause will have enough music to comprise a debut album rich with chunky arena rock guitar riffs intertwined with sweeping piano notes, heartfelt vocals and thought provoking lyrics. These fresh songs, full of progressive rhythms and beautiful string arrangements have garnered the support of Serj Tankian from System of a Down and the production/engineering expertise of Dan Monti (Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Buckethead). Shows in the LA area will be announced in the very near future, so stay tuned!
Audiafauna - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Audiafauna
Audiafauna is the result of a true collaboration of minds and hearts. What they’ve created is arrestingly genuine – combining the genres of indie-folk, pop, electronica, and soul to name a few – and can be likened to the powerhouse vocals of Florence & the Machine, the impassioned hunger of Cat Power, and the curiosity of Cocorosie. What they’ve created is uniquely their own however, and the striking sincerity with which it’s delivered transcends whatever personal preference listeners might cling to. Front-woman Kelly Koval is enrapturing, and her heartfelt words are matched by the powerful sound that springs forth from her lips. The band provides a dynamic canvas for Kelly’s magic. Violin and cello deliver rich melodies and chunky chops, upright bass solidly fuses melody and groove, reverb-drenched keys and gritty guitar flush out the sound, while a motley mix of drums and electronics flow as a single instrument. The resulting sound is uncharted yet nostalgically familiar; speaking directly to our human experience, and arriving like a long-awaited breath of fresh air.
