THE MATCHES -10 Year Anniversary of E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals - (Set time: 10:10 PM)
THE MATCHES -10 Year Anniversary of E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals
Oakland, CA punk/pop/alternative band The Matches reform for the ten-year anniversary of the Epitaph Records release of their first album E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals, which garnered the band international attention. In addition to their subsequent two full length albums released on Epitaph, the band's legacy is still largely based on the success of their guerrilla promotion of a fresh and self-sufficient scene of largely high school and college-aged bands and fans in the East Bay, that fostered a thriving art-centric punk and alternative rock scene.
After many years of touring internationally, including countless shows throughout the Southland, and selling out the Troubadour for a final show in 2009, The Matches disbanded amicably to explore other endeavors. Now, the original lineup of Justin SanSouci, Jon Devoto, Matt Whalen, and Shawn Harris are in their early thirties, and are coming together to honor their now-adult Southern California fans and nostalgists with a one-off performance of their teenaged album that started it all at one of their favorite venues, the Troubadour.
Billy Brown - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Billy Brown
Billy Brown started playing in punk rock bands in the late 80's. These bands were pretty terrible. Eventually he played in bands that were less terrible, some might even say good. These bands include SHOOT THE HOSTAGES, CRASH AND BURN, DEADLY SINS and ASHERS. Over the years he has toured extensively in North America and Europe with a lot of well known bands that are probably in your record collection, providing that you have good records. He also filled in on guitar for THE UNSEEN on occasion as well as THE PINKERTON THUGS.

His first solo record "BEST OF TRAGEDIES" was co-produced by Shawn Harris (THE MATCHES, MANIAC) and features lots of people in more successful bands playing various instruments. This is not a punk record, but more of a melancholy acoustically-driven record. The songs cover such lighthearted topics as death, addiction, self destruction, and self loathing. It's great music to wallow in self pity with, in the dark by yourself

Billy Brown enjoys the following things - labels that don't sign a ton of bands and try to promote the ones they do. Clubs that have a nice green room with a locking bathroom. Free drinks and food. You get the idea. One thing Billy Brown is not fond of is writing in the 3rd person. Actually I'm not fond of bios in general. Thank you for your time.
