Dear Friends, We are encouraging our fans to raise their voices in support of positive social change. With so many vital social services under attack by conservative lawmakers, now is the time to dedicate ourselves to reversing this dangerous drift from humanity in government. We will focus on supporting local domestic violence shelters and childhood sexual abuse prevention programs in each city we visit on tour. Through discourse, education, action and strategy we believe it is possible to create communities in which all people are given the respect they deserve. Because we have decided to add one dollar to our show's ticket price, the simple act of buying a ticket will enable us to raise much-needed funding for the organizations in your communities providing this urgently needed work. Please show your solidarity by joining us in support of the women and children in all of our lives. Sincerely, Thao and Mira

Thao & Mirah - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Thao & Mirah
Thao and Mirah both often go by their first names only. That is mostly why they wanted to make a record together. Other reasons include: they are friends, they were finally in San Francisco at the same time, and both joyfully welcomed a short departure from their respective successful solo careers to collaborate on a project.

Mirah (K records) started making music in the late 90's in the Pacific Northwest, becoming a much beloved indie fixture there and well beyond. Her 5 celebrated solo records and multiple previous collaborations have brought her together with an eclectic assortment of dj's, baltic music enthusiasts, entomologists and multi-media artists.

Thao signed to Kill Rock Stars in 2006 and has since released two records with her band, The Get Down Stay Down, to wide critical and popular acclaim. She has fast established herself as a well-loved songwriter and performer in and out of the indie realm.

The two enlisted dear friend and colleague Merrill Garbus (Tune-Yards, 4AD) as co-producer, guest musician (and for one song, guest writer) and the aptly titled album Thao and Mirah was recorded over 2 freewheeling weeks for Kill Rock Stars this past summer.

Thao and Mirah each wrote a new batch of beautiful songs which were jointly performed and produced by the three with some help from fine Bay Area friends. The album is a collection of songs from two distinctly different, highly respected songwriters, threaded and woven together with the creative energy and freedom of collaboration. Such freedom allowed for varied and rewarding levels of innovation, and a determination to keep the music-making as in-house as possible: both Thao and Mirah assume many of the instrumentation duties: from drums and bottles to slide guitar and knee caps. All songs maintain the writers' shared gifts: profound emotional poignancy with lyrics and melodies to match and stay with you.

Both Thao and Mirah work closely with Air Traffic Control- an organization dedicated to helping musicians become better social activists. They will team up with ATC to focus the release and touring efforts of Thao and Mirah toward supporting causes and organizations they love.
Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside - (Set time: 9:15 PM)
Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside
Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside's new record Untamed Beast is a visceral rock and roll romp. Like a cross between "Ella Fitzgerald and Tom Waits" (Mashable) Sallie has established herself as one of the most powerful female voices in indie rock. Ford and her group - Tyler Tornfelt (upright bass), Ford Tennis (drums), and Jeffrey Munger (lead guitar) - recorded the album's 11 tracks with Adam Landry and Justin Collins (Deer Tick, Middle Brother) at Jackpot! Studios in the band's hometown of Portland, Oregon.

On the new album the band creates a powerful statement on finding freedom through defying conformity. Through clever (often racy) turns of phrase, Sallie twists traditional notions of gender and genre. She says "it's time for a girl to infiltrate the boys world of rock n roll and grab it by the balls. To me rock n roll isn't a genre, it's an energy." From the exuberantly sexy "Do Me Right" to the free-spirited cry of "Party Kids," Untamed Beast has a lust for life.

Untamed Beast is the follow up to 2011's Dirty Radio which Brooklyn Vegan called "phenomenal [and] monumental." In 2011 Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside made their national television debut on Letterman, were one of the most talked about new performers at Bonnaroo, the Newport Folk Fest and Bumbershoot, and were championed by Jack White and The Avett Brothers.
Led To Sea - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
Led To Sea
Led to Sea is the solo project of Seattle violist/violinist L. Alex Guy. She is sometimes joined by incredible percussionist Paul Kikuchi. Her live shows have transfixed audiences from all across the U.S. and Europe.

Alex also tours throughout the U.S. and Europe with musicians such as Laura Veirs, Mirah and Jason Webley. She was also a member of the Degenerate Art Ensemble (of Seattle), an experimental-punk-grove orchestra/theater extravaganza for over five years. You can also hear her viola and violin stylings on the records of numerous indie and experimental bands including Xiu Xiu, the Dead Science, The Pharmacy and Parenthetical Girls.
