Andy Clockwise (Record Release Show) - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Andy Clockwise (Record Release Show)
After dazzling critics and fans alike with his double-album Classic FM, Australian singer-songwriter Andy Clockwise is living in Los Angeles and set to release his second full-length album, The Socialite.

“It’s about me trying to find some sort of state of grace in the cult of celebrity,” says Clockwise, who was based in London when he came to LA for a two-week visit in mid-2007 - and decided to stay.

“I’m not really one who likes to embrace a scene, but I ended up finding LA incredibly interesting.”

Clockwise has co-produced the new album with Daniel Rejmer, whose recording credits include The Kills, Billy Bragg, Björk and Nick Cave.

Classically trained, Clockwise cites influences as diverse as Charlie Chaplin and the prime-time news media, and is renowned for the massive range of musical styles which surface in his song writing and performing. In addition to writing all of his own music, Clockwise plays every instrument on his recorded tracks.

His reputation for daring on-stage showmanship has garnered Clockwise a fervent live following; his unpredictable and electrifying live shows have sold out venues across Australia, London, New York - and more recently some of LA’s most iconic venues: The Hotel Café, The Viper Room and Spaceland.

Born Andy Kelly, Clockwise emerged after years of gigging in and around Sydney. Single-handedly writing, recording and producing his debut EP in 2002, the release of Song Exhibition spawned a couple of high rotation singles on Australian national radio station Triple J (‘Song for the Unemployed’ and ‘Every Song’), a healthy dose of critical claim and an army of new fans. The mini-album reached number three on Australian indy music charts, and spent seven months in the Australian Independent Record charts’ Top 20.

“Ambitious”, “thrilling” and “unpredictable’’ are just a few of the superlatives critics reached for to describe Classic FM, a double concept album written, produced, engineered and mixed by Clockwise in his own studio and released in 2006.

Written about an imaginary radio station, Classic FM quickly became one of the highest rotating albums on Australian independent radio, with hit singles including ‘Alice May’, ‘Mr. Taste Maker’ and ‘Taking Over the World’.

The success of Classic FM led to Clockwise touring with INXS and former Stranglers front man Hugh Cornwall, before headlining his own national tour.
Robotanists - (Set time: 9:15 PM)
Robotanists
ROBOTANISTS' haunting melodies and seamless blend of soulful indie rock, driving beats and lush synth pop have garnished them comparisons to buzz bands like Florence and the Machine, Phoenix, and The XX.

ROBOTANISTS spent 2009 spreading their big choruses and delicate prose across North America on tour and on the radio. Their breakthrough single "Wait a Minute here" (from the self produced and release album, CLOSE DOWN THE WOODS) topped charts in Los Angeles (KCRW, KROQ) and other major cities across the US, along side bands like Phoenix, Grizzly Bear, The Dead Weather, Dirty Projectors and more, earning them a slot at CMJ in 2009 and on the ballot for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards Nominations.

ROBOTANISTS kicked off 2010 with their second album, a collection of cover called SHAPES AND VARIATIONS. The album is the Silver Lake quartet's critically acclaimed ode to Los Angeles, featuring 7 reharmonized and rearranged tracks by Jay-Z, Lykke Li, The Black Keys, Joe Jackson, Bryan Adams, and more. Through "SHAPES," Daniel DeBlanke and Sarah Ellquist rise as an arranging tour de force, reworking material from the popular zeitgeist and giving it new life, full of all of the heartache, hopes and dreams that defines the "City of Angels."

ROBOTANISTS released their 3rd album, PLANS IN PROGRESS, on February 15th on Overhead Records, which was recorded in the fall of 2010 in Los Angeles, at Bright Street (Rilo Kiley, Vampire Weekend, Lykke Li, Obi Best, Sia, M. Ward) with producer / engineer Danny Kalb (Beck, Ben Harper, Karen O), and mastering by Mark Chalecki (Local Natives, Avi Buffalo, Living Sisters).

Five days later the group ambitiously covered the 8th album from RADIOHEAD, THE KING OF LIMBS, in its entirety within 24 hours of the album's release. STAY TUNED FOR MORE FROM ROBOTANISTS!
George Stanford - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
George Stanford
George Stanford made his way to the front of the band through the brass section, where he played trombone in every type of band he could as a kid. Trombone proved to be a dangerous 'gateway' instrument, leading him to the bass, guitar, keyboards, and anything else that would make noise. These instruments led him to discover his love for singing, and the beautiful puzzle of songwriting. He studied the trombone at University of the Arts in his native Philadelphia for a year, where he formed the rock group Townhall. Realizing the academic lifestyle wasn't for him, he left school to set out on the road with his band. After touring, recording, and starving for over five years, the group decided to go their separate ways in early 2006. With the demons of rock and roll calling his name louder than ever, and a new understanding of his own musical voice, George left his home, family, and job at the laundromat for the bright lights of Los Angeles, to record a batch of new tunes. Within weeks of getting to the big city, he signed a recording contract with Epic Records. After a little shake up in early 2007, George moved to Mercury Records and became the first artist on the revived classic label. His debut record, 'Big Drop' was released in June 2008. Billboard magazine called it "a promising debut from a serious talent." He has since rejoined the ranks of independent musicians, and lives in Hollywood, CA, recording and producing his and other artists' music
