Arms Akimbo - (Set time: 10:15 PM)
Arms Akimbo
To describe Arms Akimbo is a maddening series of clichés that manage to form something truly original. They met in college. They all liked the same bands (Portugal. The Man, Local Natives, Hippo Campus, Walk The Moon). They released a self-produced EP (“Vignettes”) that found quick success. They opened for some bigger bands...

This would be tiringly familiar were it not for the surprising speed with which the band gained fans in their Los Angeles hometown. They sold out a small club, sold out a larger club, then another, then sold out legendary club The Troubadour.

For a local band, standing out can be a slow and painful task but Arms Akimbo’s Peter Schrupp, Christopher Kalil, Matthew Sutton and Colin Boppell have tapped into that post-college-now-wtf vein of hope, insecurity and “fuck it, let’s just enjoy this” with their most recent EP “The Wrong Kind Of Dance Party”. Instantly familiar, the EP (songs from which are interspersed by recordings from an actual house party they threw in their former house), immediately drops you into a typical kegger with all the promise of a good time as well all the dashed hopes and inevitable heartbreak. But the EP slowly exposes the deeper side. The part where you end up at the end of the night, sitting with your best friend in the driveway and wondering what the point of life is.

Whatever it is, the band has hit a nerve. Maybe it’s that never ending nag that this time in life is fleeting, that responsibility is knocking hard on the door. Maybe it’s the inspiration that you don’t ever have to lose this feeling. Maybe it’s also a sign of the times…that in an increasingly unpredictable world, the only thing you can count on are friends, and the moment.
Exes - (Set time: 9:15 PM)
Exes
Driven by post-youth nostalgia and the people of their past, EXES—a venice beach duo fronted by Allie McDonald and Mike Derenzo— invite listeners into the whimsically romantic world of their design.

McDonald and Derenzo met while attending Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Allie was recording and uploading original songs to YouTube while Mike produced and made beats for a number of projects. Her intimacy combined with his intricacy allowed the duo to form a detail-oriented sort of pop, equal parts affectionate and vulnerable in production, lyrics, and melody.
Goldensuns - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
Goldensuns
Goldensuns is a Los Angeles-based band founded by three brothers: Chase (bass/lead singer), Jantzen (guitar/vocals) and Weston Meier (drums/vocals). While coming of age in Salt Lake City, Utah, Goldensuns wrote, produced, engineered and released their 2011 debut EP, Wine Country, under the name Golden Sun. This DIY method that they employed on Wine Country became the formula that the band would employ with all of their ensuing recordings.

Still in their teens, the band started booking shows as they continued to write and record new material. In 2013, the eponymous Golden Sun EP was released, leading the band to experience their first taste of success. The EP debuted as Bandcamp's number one overall seller, and this momentum continued as the single "Kings Cup" was sampled in Bass King Vs. X-Vertigo's "Kings," which is licensed under Tiesto's Musical Freedom imprint. Tiesto himself has used the song in many of his live sets.

Golden Sun EP led to a 2013 US tour in which the band regularly played 1,000-1,500 cap venues. The EP's success is still being felt , as "Kings Cup" gained further renown with a feature in a May 6, 2015 episode of CSI Cyber. As of today, Golden Sun EP has been streamed over 200,000 times in addition to its 6,000 plus copies sold.

The success of Golden Sun EP led the brothers to move to Los Angeles, where they currently reside. Goldensuns is currently recording their next project, which has already seen commercial success with the feature of "I Feel This Place" in a Billabong Spring 2015 campaign. In addition, The Wild Honey Pie recently filmed a live performance of "Give It Up" and "Gold Chains", two new singles. Goldensuns' new project was released late 2017, which the band looks forward to supporting with their largest tour yet.
