Collie Buddz - (Set time: 10:45 PM)
Collie Buddz
Collie Buddz, from the isle of Bermuda, has done something not impossible but something once seemingly very implausible. He's become the most buzz-worthy current Reggae artist over the past few years. In the summer, 2007, Collie Buddz' Columbia Records self-titled debut album stormed the charts entering the Billboard Reggae Chart at first position. The Reggae singjay became an international star
when this album went on to debut across the world on every chart from Japan to Germany. With much of the production coming from Collie himself, he delivered a solid effort with contributions from Supa Dups, Shea Taylor, Bang Out, Screwface, Bobby Konders, and Crown N Kah-So-Real.

Released just a day before US Independence Day, Collie's album could be heard blasting out of car windows from Brooklyn to Kingston all summer long. Critically speaking, Collie's debut was a monster, his first single, an undeniable summer anthem titled, "Come Around". Source Magazine proclaimed, "This 24 year old shotta has got an anthem spreading across the seas." Hip Hop Weekly said, "Collie Buddz is one of the most firmly grounded voices you may ever encounter." The industry excitement about this new voice in music manifested in many ways namely by inspiring Collie's musical peers to either create their own remixes of "Come Around," or join Collie on the official remix of the single. Busta Rhymes, G-Unit, Shaggy, and Cypress Hill, all contributed to the anthem.

Incorporating influences from Hip-Hop to Soca, Collie's music nevertheless has a rock-solid foundation in Reggae - and its power to connect ghetto reality with the highest heights of human aspiration - that is a rarity even in Jamaica. But, to say he's connected to the Caribbean community would be an understatement. Collie Buddz, born Colin Harper, has become the Caribbean culture's resident ambassador.

Touring extensively, Collie's passport stamps are a relative reflection of the worldwide love for Reggae and Caribbean culture. From Madison Square Garden to Dubai, Collie Buddz is the definition of an international recording artist. "It was crazy performing in the Middle East. Who would have guessed how big reggae music is there? They knew all my songs," a jubilant Buddz explains. He has toured throughout Germany, France, England, Japan, North and South America and the Caribbean.

His unique blend of Hip-Hop, Soca and Dancehall underlined with his ever-present passion for the modern Roots Reggae sound has attracted tastemaker supporters all over the world. Reggae pioneer David Rodigan [London] and New York Reggae stalwarts, Massive B are just some of his most ardent supporters. Now on the verge of Collie's sophomore album release, the anticipation is palpable.

In spite of a heavy touring schedule since 2007, Collie is prepared to release a sophomore album that promises an even greater insight into the multi-talented, singer/producer. "We don't have a title for the new album just yet but whatever we call it, the album will be mad," Collie excitedly explains. With production by Supa Dups, Massive B, and Seani B among other contributors, Collie's fans can anticipate Collie's unique twist on popular music.

After ending his affiliation with Columbia Records/Sony Music Entertainment, Inc in 2008, he found fewer restrictions on the indy scene and has since founded his own independent record label, Harper Digital alongside his brother [Smokey] and DJ [Genie] while working with his longtime management group, Mojiza Management.

Humble as always, Collie simply says, "I'm just excited to be putting out another album. I love to make music and the satisfaction is in having other people from all over the world enjoy it. I live out of a suitcase and I wouldn't have it any other way."
New Kingston - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
New Kingston
New Kingston is a young vocalist/instrumentalist group, that consists of three brothers. Tahir a.k.a. SLIM, the youngest member on keyboards/vocals. Courtney on drums/vocals and Stephen a.k.a SUKI, the oldest on guitar/vocals. This group fuses their reggae sound with modern [op, jazz and R&B music, to create their sound, which they term, "Reggae Crossover." New Kingston has been in the industry for some time now and some might call them, "young veterans"! The group is led by its founder/manager and father Courtney LJ Panton. New Kingston started off working with many artists such as, Collie Buddz, Mr.Vegas, Morgan Heritage, Sister Carol, Shabba Ranks, and many more. But, while working with all of these artists, manager Courtney LJ Panton had another vision. He had an ulterior motive for New Kingston, which was for them to rise to the top as a solo act and stand alone, capturing the love of the people. This helped to create their sound, dubbed, "Reggae Crossover". A blend of sounds, to everyone's liking, while still sticking to their heritage. Reggae! Now this group is sharing the stage with many artists around the world from Europe, to the Americas and beyond. New Kingston is currently set to release their second album, "In The Streets". The album features two of their singles that are gaining radio recognition globally. "In The Streets", the title track of the album and "Pon Di Wall", which is on the Ting-ah-Ling riddim revamped and remade by New Kingston!
Los Rakas - (Set time: 9:15 PM)
Los Rakas
Los Rakas represent pan-American flows. Two cousins who grew up in Panama before spending their teens in Oakland, California, Raka Dun and Raka Rich put a distinctive "Panabay" twist on hip-hop and reggae, bridging the streetwise sounds of the places they've called home. Drawing on Panamanian plena's faithful approach to reggae classics and the Bay Area's independent and idiosyncratic hip-hop scene, Los Rakas merge familiar dancehall melodies with a lyricism all their own.

Critically acclaimed and blog favorites, Los Rakas keep on top of their game by releasing a steady stream of tracks, remixes, mixtapes (including 2006's Panabay Twist and 2009's Panabay Twist Vol 2.: La Tanda Del Bus), and videos (which have exceeded over 500,000+ views), and expanding their circle of collaborators to include the Austrian aggro-dancehall of Stereotyp, to the Bay Area mainstays like E-40 and Zion I & The Grouch, to the electro-tropidelica of New York City's Uproot Andy.

Last year was a flagship year for Los Rakas, winning the 2010 Latin Alternative Music Conference's Jack Daniel's 'Discovery Artist' prize in New York City (an award that goes to the most promising group at the conference and the first time awarded to an urban group), with endorsements from Gibson Guitar and SHURE; culminating a breakout performance at The Bowery Ballroom with a 6-piece band. They have also played alongside artists like Outkast, Nas & Damien Marley, Ice Cube, Ghostface Killah, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, E40, Pharaoh Monch, Fat Joe and others.

In 2011, the group toured with reggae sensation Collie Buddz on his month and a half-long Playback Tour, bringing their charismatic stage presence and dynamic show to audiences across the United States. High profile festival appearances include: Central Park Summerstage, Cypress Hill's Smokeout Fest, UCLA's Reggae Jazz Festival and Snoop Dogg's Spring Gathering.

Tastemakers like the FADER, XLR8R, RCRDLBL to more traditional outlets like The New York Times, NPR & National Geographic have hailed the group. Their hit summer single, 'Abrazame' ft Favi (Uproot Andy Hold Yuh) {a Latin take on the Gyptian 'Hold Yuh' smash} received regular rotation at 106 KMEL (San Francisco), Latino 96.3 (Los Angeles) and La Mega 97.9 (New York) and continues to spread across the blogosphere along with cult favorites 'Soy Raka' (whose video was featured on ABC's DATELINE TV about Oakland's growing Turfin' dance movement) and 'Kalle' (whose video was shot in NYC and premiered with the FADER).

Los Rakas make music born of migration and tradition, critique and celebration, joy and pain. They make New World music. American music. Panamanian Jamaican Californian music. Music for b-boys and rude boys, dancers and romancers, mainlanders and islanders and isthmus folk alike.

August 23rd will see the release of the Los Rakas first official EP release, 'Chancletas Y Camisetas Bordada' (on Soy Raka LLC).
Wheeland Brothers - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
Wheeland Brothers
The Wheeland Brothers are surfers making music for surfers. It’s the Newport Beach shortboarder/Sublime attitude colliding with with the San-O chill-out longboarder/Jack Johnson vibe. We describe our music as acoustic beach rock and ukulele hip hop reggae. Our songs cover a full spread of punk reggae, acoustic hip hop, and ukulele bonfire jams, and hit all sides of the Southern Californian beach culture flavor.
