Unique in its musical arsenal is the inclusion of oud and percussion blended with more traditional rock elements such as guitar, bass and drums. This fascinating fusion, combined with dramatic and powerful live performances have garnered Viza significant success all over the world.

Recorded by Jared Gosselin (D12, Macy Gray) at Frank Zappa’s UMRK Studios, Viza’s fifth album, “Carnivalia” is the band’s most animated work – a journey through a symbolic theme park derived from satirical and dramatic influences. Inspired from Gogol Bordello’s multicultural rhapsodies and System of a Down’s notorious screams and riffs, Carnivalia embodies Viza’s groundbreaking songwriting and experimentation which has amazed audiences with a mesmerizing blend of instruments, various styles and continued evolution of Viza’s sound.

In September 2012, Viza will embark on its second tour with System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian for his “Harakiri” World Tour, a nearly 6 week endeavor featuring 19 performances all around the world. In 2010, Viza also supported Tankian’s "Imperfect Harmonies" Tour in Europe in the cities of Hamburg, Cologne, Paris, Zurich, Bologna, Athens and Yerevan. “Loving the new record; Carnivalia’s awesome. I love hearing the new influences and the fun loving spirit and musical wizardry. Overall a really great effort,” said Tankian. “Viza is one of the most unique and interesting bands I have ever encountered. Their live shows are energetic and fun,” he added. Tankian has worked extensively with the group, serving as Executive Producer of Viza’s previous album entitled “Made In Chernobyl”, and also sang as a guest vocalist on the album’s “Viktor” track.

Formerly known as Visa, the band released two EPs and two full length albums, along with a award winning music video. The band's De Facto, Eros and Made In Chernobyl albums incorporated music pervaded with sonorities from various influences and musical styles and blended elements of aggressive rock, dance and satirical social commentary.

Among the band’s extensive touring schedule, Viza has performed at one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious music events at Hungary’s Sziget Festival’s mainstage (alongside Korn, The Killers, Axwell, The Vaccines, The XX among several others) as part of a month long European tour in August 2012. Viza has also performed at Sweden’s Malmofestivalen, Norway's Kartfestivalen, Slovenia's Schengenfest and Trnfest and Greece’s Rockwave Festival (alongside The Prodigy, Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Marky Ramone’s Blitzkreig), and has toured Europe 6 times in the past 2 years alone.

Demonstrating a knack for reinventing old rock classics, Viza recently covered the Doors tune "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)" by adding its own strong seasonings and aggressive fusion style in a compelling reimagination of this classic rock ballad. The song is available for free download here and will be featured on Viza's upcoming tour with Serj Tankian.

Aside from a passion for music, touring and song writing, Viza’s extensive performances around the globe also serve as their voice for promoting social consciousness of human rights and community issues – as well as providing opportunities to fundraise for various charities, homeless shelters and orphanages. oud and percussion blended with more traditional rock elements such as guitar, bass and drums. Eternal Mind Control - (Set time: 9:30 PM)
Eternal Mind Control
Kat: became obsessed with rock at the age of 16. While being extremely influenced by her favorite band Orgy, picked up the guitar and taught herself to play. She then started guitar classes in high school to advance her knowledge and played in class, as well as school events. While in college she joined a band, which sadly split shortly after. However, she continuously wrote music on the side and
recorded it when possible. Her favorite part about music is expressing herself lyrically, it's her greatest satisfaction of all. She loves coming up with melodies and writing about her past/present life. She's not focused so much on singing, "pretty" but loves the raw, edgy side to vocals. Major influences are 90's alternative rock, industrial, goth and heavy rock. Favorite bands, NIN, MSI, The Cure, Garbage, Guano Apes, etc.

Nairi: is a classically trained pianist. He picked up jazz and blues on his own, which then lead to rock. His major influences are rachmaninov, gershwin, tatum, Keys, the cure, radiohead, muse, Hooverphonic, and last but not least, Portishead. Major Music genres he enjoys are trip-hop, ambient, and downbeat, but no discrimination when it comes to music. Hindu prayers, grigorian chants, and even country music 😉 are in his playlist.

Vardan: Teacher by day bassist by night! “V” is a musician who is completely immersed in his art and EMC. He’s a serious artist with big ambitions and he spares no expense in improving his craft. Before settling on the bass he went through keyboard and classical guitar training which gave him a strong musical foundation. When he isn’t practicing, composing, and recording new material he enjoys listening to Lacuna Coil, RATM, Korn, Latin-Jazz Fusion, Funk and Mediterranean Rock. And…..he is by far, the COOLEST guy of the band!

Krikor: Krikor and rock/metal met at the young age of 14 in junior high. Neither of them were looking for anything serious, but as time went on, they became inseparable. They would spend countless hours in his room, having a good time together. As they grew, their relationship got more serious and in 2010 they decided to take the next logical step. Krikor grabbed his guitar again, took rock/metal's hand and they started making beautiful music together.

Haik: Since the age of 16, Haik followed in his Father’s footsteps and picked up the guitar. Jamming out to songs till 3am was a regular routine. With influence like Chevelle, 10 Years, Muse, Rage Against the Machine, SOAD, UnderOath, As I Lay Dying and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Haik brings his own special blend of Eargasm’s to the table.
Description
EMC came together as a two man crew back in 2010 and slowly grew into a solid hard rock band within a year. Working day and night, EMC has created a unique sound composed by five very different personalities and backgrounds. EMC is comprised of a culturally diverse band, a mixture of Armenian boys, Vardan, Nairi, Haik and Koko and a Colombian front woman by the name of Kat. The boys blare away on
their musical instruments as Kat roars through her mic. The result, original material influenced by rock, metal, funk, classical, ethnic, jazz, and blues to say the least. The lyrics speak volumes about everyday life; the struggles and passions we all face. While combined with intelligent and creative instrumental composition, the songs hook the audience into the story. A live performance can be explained as nothing short of energetic, as the boys dance with their instruments and Kat bounces around the stage with her powerful and uplifting lyrics. EMC has come a long way and is ready to have you kicking and screaming for more.
