Wakrat - (Set time: 9:00 PM)

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE bassist and founding member Tim Commerford returns in 2016 with his new politically-charged punk rock trio WAKRAT (pronounced wôk•rat). Self-described as "two French nationals and one American anarchist", WAKRAT are promising to shake up the system and attack modern music with their contemporary take on aggressive punk rock.
The self-titled debut album is a 9 track bruising assault and a much needed battle cry of societal angst wrapped in sonic urgency. Notorious for his infamous bass lines in RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, Tim Commerford fronts the trio on vocals and bass over a tight mix of punchy, rhythmic and dynamic punk rock, fuelled by political dissent, social commentary and an undiminished subversion and questioning of authority. The debut album will be digitally released on November 8th to coincide with the date of the US General Election with the album being made available physically worldwide on November 11th.
Using the current political climate for inspiration, WAKRAT's debut album features tracks like 'Generation Fucked' and 'The Number', with lyrics such as "It always happens in America, eat more, waste more, fake more, make more war, war, war, war". WAKRAT will be touring the USA with PROPHETS OF RAGE this fall, meaning Tim is pulling double duty. Brace yourselves.
WAKRAT's self-titled debut album was recorded at BlakCole Studio and produced by the band along with co-producer Erik Colvin. The album was mixed by Brendan O'Brien and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound.
WAKRAT recently claimed Parliament Square in London as their own sovereign state, "Republic Of Wakrat", in an audacious protest designed to expose the failings of the current political system. Hundreds of supporters descended on what was formerly known as Parliament Square to join in the protest with WAKRAT who arrived on the square shortly after 7pm on Tuesday evening in an iconic red London bus. Republic Of Wakrat claims to expose a technicality in micro nation law and lays out a constitution that challenges the current elitist regime:
"This new state welcomes everyone of all ethnicities, backgrounds, genders, generations, sexualities, dis/abilities and faiths and offers a fresh alternative to the current system - we stand for equality and free movement. The current system is oppressive and elitist, promoting racist ideologies in order to push a self-serving agenda whilst an entire generation is put in jeopardy. We condemn this behaviour and Republic Of Wakrat exists to expose it."
