Monophonics - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
“One of the best live soul bands I have ever seen!” – Al Bell (Record producer, songwriter, executive, and co-owner of legendary Stax Records)

Raised amid the rich musical culture and history of the San Francisco Bay Area, Monophonics proudly carry the torch through the generations into today’s musical landscape. Holding on to tradition, but by no means purists of any kind, they play their own brand of music known as “Psychedelic Soul.”

The 2012 release of Monophonics last album In Your Brain saw the band pulling influences from such acts as early Funkadelic, Sly and The Family Stone and the The Temptation’s Norman Whitfield produced records. With the new album, Sound of Sinning (April 1, 2015 on Transistor Sound Records), the band has grown in all areas of record making and felt a need to explore other important influences. While the group has come to cherish these inspirations, with Sound of Sinning they started venturing beyond, to the groups that were inspiring those soul acts to embrace the psychedelic sound of the 60’s and 70’s. Bands such as The Zombies, The Beatles, Beach Boys and Pink Floyd. Even with the experimentation of new musical territory, they display the sound that people know and love about Monophonics. Touching on Northern soul, doo-wop, rock and roll, Psych pop, and cinematic music, Monophonics show off their diversity while remaining true to their roots. Overall it’s heartfelt music and old school vibes, without losing sight of the present. This is music steeped in that timeless feeling when people could write and produce songs that you could listen to over and over again. Sound of Sinning was produced by Kelly Finnigan & Ian McDonald and recorded on an old Tascam eight-track 1/4” tape machine at Transistor Sound Studios in San Rafael, CA.

Monophonics is Austin Bohlman (Drums), Myles O’Mahony (Bass/Background Vocals), Ian McDonald (Guitar/Background Vocals), Ryan Scott (Trumpet/Back- ground Vocals/Percussion) & Kelly Finnigan (Keys/Lead Vocals) along with a rotating 2nd horn usually filled by Nadav Nirenberg (Trombone) from Ikebe Shakedown and Breakdown Brass.
Soluzion - (Set time: 9:15 PM)
Combining the concepts of a solution to a problem and a hallucinogenic experience, we bring you Soluzion from Topanga, California. This group of four men from different musical and cultural backgrounds blend a perfect balance of funk, afro-latin, soul and jazz influences to create and unforgettable live show. One could come to a Soluzion show and feel like they’ve returned to a time and feeling they recognize but perhaps have never known; the energy is high, the music is solid, and nobody can stand still.

Three of the band members grew up playing music together in Topanga Canyon – a small town in the Santa Monica mountains with an enticing history of music and counter culture – and have also played as Re:bel, the backing band for Daniel Bambaata Marley. Terin Ector leads the group on vocals and bass, with influences from his dad (Joey Ector) and uncle (Taumbu Ector), who are both accomplished musicians. Aquiles “Lito” Magaña lets his inner visions come out to play on the electric guitar, raising the energy to higher levels. The rhythm section is comprised of Sebastian Harris – an ocean man with surfboard and drumsticks in hand – who plays with precision and finesse, and Pedro Flores, who dirties it up with various percussion instruments including the congas. This core four makes up the band, but you can expect to see friends of theirs on stage at any show on the keys, backup vocals or horn sections, adding to the party mood that they create for all to enjoy.

Soluzion has followed in the footsteps of their influences and created a scene in Topanga for people to get together, dance, and experience good, live music. Their sets are a mix of originals, covers and jams that morph with the crowd to create something special every time.

Venture out and come to a Soluzion show with your good vibes, an open mind, dancing shoes and an ice cube.
Miles Tackett - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
Miles Tackett
Miles Tackett (aka Music Man Miles) is known best for the Breakestra, a funky soul-jazz project he founded in 1998 as multi instrumentalist, producer, engineer and songwriter.

Tackett also runs and DJs Funky Sole, L.A.'s longest running weekly all vinyl funk and soul party at the Echo.

After years of focusing on a purist sixties/seventies funky soul style and sound with the Breakestra, Tackett has finally taken some time to marinate, write new songs and return to his original instruments electric guitar and voice where he can really stretch out. With influences that draw from vintage soul, psychedelia, folky-jazz and the oh so wide genre of "rock" this new music brings much of Tackett's many musical travels on home.

Speaking of home, Topanga Canyon is the Santa Monica mountain community where he grew up around an ever colorful group of artists, actors and musicians including the 70s americana rock band Little Feat of which his multi instrumentalist father, Fred Tacket, is a current member. Despite his adopted home on the east side of L.A. the mountain still calls his name as his ode "Out in the canyon" attests.

On The Fool Who Wonders, Tackett takes the one man band road as producer/engineer and keeps it analog tape warm and dirty at his New Tilt Studio.

The new single "Just What I Need", is the first recording to rise from Tackett's latest collection of songs which features him on vocals, guitar & keys. Also featured is a soul psyche reworking of a Byrds era David Crosby song "Everybody's Been Burned
