The Elected: Record Release Show - (Set time: 10:15 PM)
The Elected: Record Release Show
The Elected and Vagrant Records are pleased to announce the release of the band's newest album, Bury Me In My Rings, on May 17th. Produced and recorded by frontman Blake Sennett (Rilo Kiley guitarist/co-songwriter) with help from Jason Cupp and longtime Elected contributor Mike Bloom, Bury Me In My Rings is complete with twelve shimmering pop songs reminiscent of mid-century West Coast rock.

"At first, I just played all the instruments myself," Blake comments. "I just thought, may as well take it as far as I can alone... then I brought in my friends to fill in the blanks."

The result is a thoughtful and deliberate pop album layered with soulful harmo800nies and a sunny disposition, and is easily The Elected's most impressive work to date. Simply put, people just don't make pop albums like this anymore.

Bury Me In My Rings is The Elected's third full-length release, and first on Vagrant. The band released its previous albums, Me First (2004) and Sun, Sun, Sun (2006) on Sub Pop Records. After another Rilo Kiley album and tour, followed by an extended break, Blake had retired from music, or so he thought. Tucked away from the limelight, and amidst a soul-search-inducing home renovation project, Blake decided it was time to make a record.

Bury Me In My Rings will be unveiled on May 17th via Vagrant Records. Expect to see The Elected playing worldwide in support.
The Moor - (Set time: 9:15 PM)
The Moor
“If the words paint the picture, the music provides the canvas.”

The Moor dilute the truth of this statement with dense turns of oblique, distinct melodies, sonically vibrant images, and dips and swells of familiar obscurity. Like the feeling of comfort found in an old friend you've just met – someone you know right off the bat isn't going anywhere.

Founded in September of 2008, The Moor's creative core consists of musical and romantic duo Erica Daking and Josiah Steinbrick, transplanted from the North East to Los Angeles at the turn of the millennium. Their debut album was recorded with Ben Lovett in the basement of their Victorian home, amidst the cozied hills and winding vistas of the east side's Mount Washington neighborhood. The resulting eight songs are a haunting concoction of synthesizers, piano, subdued guitars, and mesmerizing vocals, creating a raw wall of sound that evokes and impresses with equal measure. With musical contributions from Josh Klinghoffer (PJ Harvey, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Simon Lord (Simian, Black Ghosts), and Bryan Hollon (Boom Bip, Neon Neon) and finishing touches by mix guru Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom, The Strokes) the swagger of the instrumentation couples with the moody, candid lyrics and the velvet arrangements in a dream-scape of hypnotic rhythms.

A cabaret of the imagination, The Moor's live show expands the album through a lush blend of precision and improvisation, where they're joined on stage by members of such bands as Warpaint, Darker My Love, and Little Joy. Not to be missed, the experience draws the listener further into the pretty, mercurial world painted so deftly on the album.

Born in New York and raised by a duet of musicians, Erica has been writing and recording music since she was thirteen. Steinbrick, a Providence native and composer, is often sought out by the likes of Dangermouse, Devendra Banhart, and White Fence's Tim Presley for his work both in the studio and on stage.
The Chances - (Set time: 8:30 PM)
The Chances
The Chances are a band from Los Angeles, California. One man, Michael, asked Two Women, Julia and Sara, to come over and sing some songs in his living room. The band was established soon after, serving as a simple showcase for lovelorn lyrics, honeyed harmonies, and casual execution of doo wop meets brill pop arrangements. The group now prepare their debut album of long lost love songs and continue to perform live in the Southern California area.
