Sink Swim - (Set time: 9:45 PM)
Sink Swim
Ready to burst on the scene with relentless skill and passion, Sink Swim is a fresh and emerging Los Angeles-based alternative, pop-punk band. The trio is made up of Dane Petersen, Jake Lopez and Corey Backer. The band’s debut 5-song EP, ELEMENTS is their most current musical endeavor; A track-by-track prelude to the climactic potential this band has for musical success.
Sink Swim is the brainchi
ld of Petersen, a 19-year-old singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist. The band recently became a three-piece band adding Lopez as guitarist and Backer as drummer. Hailing from a suburb of Los Angeles, Thousand Oaks, all band members realized their talents in their earlier years. Petersen faithfully followed his dream and began honing his craft since just before the age of 12. Backer, who owes his drumming chops to the hardcore genre, started perfecting his skills at age 12 while Lopez, first influenced by Latin guitarists, picked up the guitar at 15 years old.
With down-tuned guitars and gut-wrenching vocals, there is more to this pop-punk outfit than meets the eye (or ear). A clever blend of pop and punk drives the hard-hitting songs while citing other influences in the post-hardcore and emo genres. But one thing that is undeniable is the catchy and honest choruses that stay with you no matter what your mood may be. Not to mention a message to live by: "Love fearlessly, endlessly. Love yourself and always BE yourself. Everyone is on the same level, show the world positivity even when there seems to be none." And Sink Swim certainly lives by these words. With a “can't stop, won't stop” attitude, these young men have a lot to say and will undoubtedly catch your attention once you press play.
