Tempest - (Set time: 10:30 PM)
Tempest
Tempest is an alternative/electronic rock band founded by songwriter, pianist, producer and singer, Gabrielle Wortman, and percussionist Christopher Roberts in Los Angeles. Tempest was named 2012 Sundance Film Festival's "Next Big Thing", a title previously held by The Civil Wars and more, and released their debut album i am tempest. to a powerful display of praise from indie music blogs like IndieUpdate, Buzzbands LA, The Burning Ear, Your Music Radar, Music Under Fire, Indie Bands Blog and more.

As a solo artist, Gabrielle Wortman has won multiple awards for her songwriting, including a 2009 Los Angeles Music Awards nomination for "AAA Album of the Year", a 2011 Malibu Music Award for "Alternative Rock Song of the Year" and 2011 Hollywood Music in Media Awards nominations for both the "Best Alternative Song" and "Best Music Video" categories, making her the only artist to be nominated twice in one year. The most notable breakthrough in Gabrielle's solo career came with her second release, The Voodoo EP, on April 13, 2011, which catapulted her into the #1 position on the Reverbnation.com "What' Hot" Chart for a seven consecutive days and garnered her international praise from critics and publications. Tempest has been most noted by critics for their electronically infused unique moody, dark, and soulful style. She has been praised for uniquely combining a distinct southern soul and an urban vibe.

IndieUpdate: “Tempest EP is a new chapter and a new beginning for Gabrielle Wortman as a ground-breaking urban-soul-alternative artist and a radical music tempest. Her unique ability to fuse together distinct genres from classical to rock, instruments, and techniques in a soulful melody with lyrics that are strikingly relatable allows listeners to reflect emotions on a deeper level sending you to rather dark, mystic state of mind.”

The Burning Ear: The piano. The minimalistic synths. The sparse drum track. Oh, andthe voice: It’s powerful. It’s haunting. It’s passionate. It’s astonishing. Simply put there is nothing I can’t tout to the highest of touts with this song. So while I sit here and tout to the utmost of my ability, press play.

IndieBandsBlog: The cross-over between urban angst with the wider spaces is allowed to develop, due to the sheer musical ability of Gabrielle. I use the label alternative-pop, as a positive indicator, the music has the mainstream sound, which is more than off-set by heart-felt and relevant musical composition.

The Underground Noise: Next up was Tempest. This three piece band exhibited soulful vocals layered over electronic drums and piano riffs. It was music that was bubbly, yet captivating by not being too pop induced. It was like in-taking a sweet nectar on a golden afternoon.
The Remainers - (Set time: 9:40 PM)
The Remainers
In 2009, former members of Big City Rock and Siren Six! regrouped to form The Remainers. Having been tossed through the major label machines, the band decided to take other survivors into the studio with them to mix things up. For two weeks in the pool house on the back side of Graham Nash’s property, Ryan Dusick (Maroon 5) produced and Jacques Brautbar (Phantom Planet) and Joe Guese (The Click Five) provided their talents to create what would eventually be called Formal Fridays, The Remainers first 6-song EP. Comprised of Nate Bott(guitar/vox), Frank Staniszewski(keyboards), Jason Lautenschleger(bass) and Kaumyar(drums), The Remainers bring a modern indie vibe to influences ranging from Tom Petty to Oasis. They can be seen playing local shows across Los Angeles and along the West Coast. Formal Fridays is available at all major online music distributors.
Lara Johnston - (Set time: 8:50 PM)
Lara Johnston
Singer/songwriter Lara Johnston is on the rise with her captivating, soulful voice and creative spirit. Influenced by Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger, and Beyonce, Lara has a vocal tone that is unlike any other and a fiery, dynamic stage presence to match. She has shared the bill with such acts as Willie Nelson, Tower of Power, Huey Lewis and the News, Pablo Cruise, The Doobie Brothers, Journey, Heart, Sammy Hagar, Cheap Trick, KISS, and most recently, Leon Russell and Lynyrd Skynyrd. She has also shared the stage with Michael McDonald, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Miller, and others. She's had the opportunity to watch, and learn from, some of the best musicians in the business. During the past two years, Lara has been touring throughout the US, Europe, and Canada, writing and co-writing songs in LA, London, and Nashville, and balancing her career pursuits with her time as a student in USC’s Thornton School of Music. She won third place in BMI’s John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship competition for her original song, “Mister (Be My Man).” And 2011 has been a whirlwind: Lara finished writing and recording a new 10-song album in Nashville, opened up for rockers KISS, and spent her summer touring around the United States and Canada with solo shows and dates opening for the Doobie Brothers. This fall, Lara sang background vocals for Don Henley of the Eagles. In late October, she also contributed her vocal talents to the America’s Got Talent Live show at Caesar’s Colosseum in Las Vegas. In December, Lara capped off the year by singing 'Baby It's Cold Outside' with 2011 America's Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. on both the Wendy Williams Show and CNN's Piers Morgan Christmas special. She is grateful for these experiences as she continues to further her solo career.
The Bad Bad Things - (Set time: 11:20 PM)
The Bad Bad Things
TheBadBadThings, are a Rock Fiesta. We play our music for you, for our friends, and for our community. Our story is simple, We all want to party and play music together. We all have an itch to be creative. And we all have become a family. TheBadBadThings as the band members describe it, "just want to play music and pay their bills." It's not a priority to win a Grammy yet, but rather be able to do what makes
sense in our lives: A high energy mix of Country, Punk, Blues and Good ole Rock &Roll. We will melt your face off with awesome, pretty
babies. Your Welcome!
Kryss, Mikey, Terry, Nate, Casey, Aaron, and Sheldon, just want to Be Bad.
Kryss, the lead singer, is our brass knuckle princess. She is tattooed, loud, and as sweet as sugar. Kryss embodies her influences in any way she can. Granted, they are not of the punk rock genre, but Billie, Ella, Erykah, and Amy seem to be doing right by Kryss so far. TheBadBadThings embraced Kryss from the start. Now you would think that without Kryss, the boys would walk out of the house without their pants on if it wasn’t for her reminding them to, “get it together Pretty Babies.” She is along for the ride and down for the fight. TheBadBadThings will rip your heart out with a kiss and a smile while you beg for more.
Casey is our percussionist & and fan favorite for energy. He has shirt that says “Sad songs make me happy”. It’s a good motto, because Casey always makes people laugh and have a good time. He keeps the crowd going, keeps smiles on their faces, and keeps a drink in their hands. As far as Casey is concerned, it is just great to be in a band with his best friends. Mikey, our rhythm guitar rebel comes straight outta’ Culver City with a guitar strapped to his side and ready to shout out a song. Terry, Nate, Aaron & Sheldon are the backbone of TheBadBadThings. There would be no Bad without these Bad things.......
People like to believe in something: Obama, Unicorns, Aliens, True Blood HBO. We are the cure for the Mayan Calendar. We are America's 40 acres and Mule. Because "The Bad Bad Things" could not stop for death....Hell stopped for us!
Keaton Simons - (Set time: 8:00 PM)
Keaton Simons
Keaton Simons plays music simply because he has to. With an extensive palate including a degree in Ethnomusicology, Keaton's craving for a diverse musical adventure has pushed him into many different genres. He's worked as a writer, musical director, singer, bassist and guitarist with notable acts like Gnarls Barkley, Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg and Tre Hardson of the L.A. alternative rap group The Pharcyde. In addition, Keaton has found himself opening for Coldplay, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar and Train, writing with Jason Mraz and Hanson, producing a song for Disney teen star Nolan Sotillo (a Keaton composition, We Could Be Anything, in the new film Prom), and acting as the face of Advanced Guitar for the new Xbox game Rocksmith.

It is when performing his own songs, whether in the studio, alone on acoustic guitar or electric with his full band, that Keaton Simons truly shines. The energy and passion that Keaton brings to his work is as infectious as his lyrics and as soul stirring as his melodies. It is because of that immediate connection demanded by Keaton and his songs that many have been heard in dozens of feature films and television shows, including NCIS, Numb3rs, Malcolm in the Middle and Crash. It also doesn't hurt that Keaton himself is as down-to-Earth and genuinely appealing as his music. Go to one of Keaton's shows and you're as likely to see teenagers dancing in front as you are to see people 20-years older sitting in back, all drawn together by the universal appeal of his music.

Keaton has produced music with Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, One Republic), The Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Liz Phair) and David Bianco (Tom Petty, Bob Dylan), and has released albums both independently and through major labels, most recently 2008's Can You Hear Me on CBS Records. In 2011, Keaton Simons finds himself putting the final touches on a co-produced album with Mikal Blue, set for release in late-2011/early-2012, and preparing to spend time on the road, gaining fans the old fashioned way: One song at a time.
