Judson - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Judson
"Even for a fellow with no pretensions toward the avant-garde, Judson is a
curious fellow. He's both straightforward and oddly mercurial. While his
vision has remained consistent, his style has been known to change. While
he's been sporting a straight-laced studious look for a while now, not long
ago he was long-haired and shaggily bearded.

But whether he's been rocking hobo chic or a Cosby sweater, whether he's
being absolutely kind or letting you know that he's onto you and the lies
you tell yourself, his music has remained solid. I didn't always have his
back in this regard.

It took me a while to latch onto what he was doing as his current band was
coming together. But something started to happen with the band's
performances that made the material come alive to me in a way I'd been
resisting. Perhaps it was the way his aw-shucks politeness had come to
coexist with a frenetic intensity, an on-his-knees shredding that was as
natural as it was unexpected. One second he's affably telling of writing a
song in the Social Security office, and the next he's playing like his
demons are trying to crush him through the stage floor. And I watched
intently as "William Jennings Bryan" evolved from chilling violin showcase
to a hellfire barnburner. This prophetic streak has played out not just in
his performance but in his lyrics, most tellingly in a song like "When Will
The Paths Be Straight Again?"
Torches - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
Torches
T O R C H E S are a rock outfit that have been hypnotizing and swooning the Los Angeles scene. Their music has been aired on KROQ, KCRW, KPFK, KXLU and many stations all across the U.S. They have also been featured in BBC, LA Times, RCRD LBL, Buzz Bands LA etc. Torches have played mostly every nook and cranny in packed L.A. venues such as The Satellite, The Echo, The Bootleg Theater, The Smell. They've toured throughout California and have played at SXSW. Torches have been fortunate enough to work with Local Natives' producer, Raymond Richards, David Newton (The Soft Pack, The Henry Clay People, Happy Hollows) and Mark Chalecki who has mastered records for some of today's most intriguing artists (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bright Eyes, Silversun Pickups, Liars, Sunn O))), Brian Jonestown Massacre). This trio is excited to put out records, pet as many animals as humanly possible, see the world, meet weird looking people, share experiences and much more.
Tenlons Fort - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Tenlons Fort
What started as a noise letter to a friend in 1995, Tenlons Fort has become a four album song cycle of musician, writer, director, artist and human rights activist Jack Gibson. The latest release Shelters LP consists of ten songs, an equal number of paintings, and a fund to raise money for homeless individuals in LA, Austin, and beyond. 50% of record sales of Shelters LP serve as the initial donations to Tenlons Fort Shelters Fund.

After years of following the melancholic muse resulting in the first three releases The Golden Handshake, Followed By Bad Luck and Forever is a Long Time, Tenlons Fort replaces the meditations of death and doom, with tales of wisdom, patience, and clarity without leaving the emotional territory that has made him an underground favorite since 2005.
